Accessing CARC OnDemand now requires a USC network connection

Accessing CARC OnDemand now requires a USC network connection, either via a direct connection on campus or a USC VPN (connect.usc.edu
, sslvpn.usc.edu
, or vpn.usc.edu
) using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
As a reminder, any users attempting to log in to CARC's discovery 1&2 or endeavour 1&2 will need to first connect to USC's network, as well. At this time, no changes are being made to hpc-transfer 1&2, so a USC network connection will not be necessary.
Although this presents a big change in how users interact with CARC systems, this update has several benefits and will enhance the user experience overall.
Connecting through the USC network provides better security and eliminates the need to use Duo Two-Factor Authentication to access CARC systems since the authentication process has already been completed during the network connection. It also means that users can access the internet from the terminal.
Instructions for setting up a VPN connection can be found in our Connecting to a USC VPN user guide.
